Is hiv & aids the same thing?

or are they 2 different diseases? this is for my health project we had 2 choose a disease & i chose aids.
i didnt know wat section 2 put it in.

so their 2 different diseases?
so i can do hiv/aids or just pick 1? cus we are supposed 2 pick 1 disease & im not sure if their 1 same disease or 2 completley seperate ones

they are the same virus.. I forget the exact difference.. but I think its when you have HIV, you still have some immune system left.. although not a very good one.. with AIDS, you have NO immune system, as the virus has completely destroyed it.

It can take up to 10 years or more for HIV to develop to AIDS

I would put it together as the same disease.. as they are both from the same virus... and basically the same disease, just that AIDS is the more advanced stage of the disease.

HIV is like pre-aids.

Sorry I forgot what my teacher said in biology, but I do know that they are basically the same thing.

hiv comes first, it develops into aids if not treated immediately.

I think HIV is the germ and AIDS is the disease

EDIT: Yeah virus, that's the word.

HIV is the disease thats in your blood. AIDS is when HIV starts affecting your immune system.

no they are 2 different things HIV causes aids

HIV is a virus and causes AIDS

no....hiv is the virus that causes aids

Naah AIDs are worst if you have HIV you can take medication to stay alive but if you have AIDs you gonna die no matter what.
