Coast Guard Officer Selectivity?

Hello,

I am currently a senior at UC Berkeley and about to graduate this May. I was wondering what my odds are for selection into OCS?

Here is a quick background/resume:

Major: International Relations
Concentration: National Security and Terrorism
GPA: 3.086
Intern: US Secret Service
Volunteer Work: Humanitarian work in Africa (HIV/AIDS)
Senior Thesis: Opium trade in Afghanistan
Language: Highly proficient in Swahili / Proficient in Spanish
Extra Curricular: D-1 Athlete

As long as can pass the physical, score about a 75 or above on the ASVAB, and you qualify for a security clearance you shouldnt have a problem getting selected for OCS in the CG.

If you don't apply, your odds are zero.

If you do apply, your odds are unknown. There are too many variables. If it's something you want to do, contact your local recruiter for a phone interview, if you are not DQ, then go to GoCoastGuard.com, download and fill out the necessary paperwork and apply.

With a degree from Cal-Berkeley, a GPA above 3.0, play D1 sports - your chances are great, assuming you can interview competently and aren't extremely overweight.

I'd encourage you to apply.
