How long does it take for people to die from aids?

me ex lass was up mine earlier on and she said there were a few people who i know who are HIV possitive and there only 17 to 22 i use to go with one of lasses years ago and shes only just turned 20 now i think

I'm guessing by the way you talk you live in the UK,go and get tested- i really think you need to.

First, it depends on how long, or if, the HIV virus develops into the AIDS virus. Second, people do not die from AIDS as such; they die from infections and complications that the body cannot fight. So it depend on what infections they get, and what treatment can be given to fight it. It also depends on their lifestyle. There are now medicines that may help fight the HIV virus, and with medical help, many sufferers can lead a relatively long life. Hopefully, your friends are receiving the correct support, and are following medical advice.

HIV isn't the death sentence it used to be. There are some very effective drugs available now that can considerably slow the progession of the virus if it's caught early enough.

In fact I think some articles now claim you're more likely to live longer if you are diagnosed (and treated) with HIV than you are if you're diagnosed with diabetes.

If you're worried that you may have caught something, make an appointment to see your GP or go to your local sexual health clinic.

depends on what country you live in. Theres no reason to die from it if you live in the West and have a few dollars to spend. If you are a rural living citizen of Ruanda however............

The virus can lay dormant in humans for years. If you have reason to then get checked out

AIDS isn't a death sentence. It's a life sentence.
Something like 95% of people living with HIV/AIDS live long lives (with lifetime treatment in the West).

depends...
there's magic johnson for one example.
