AIDS is full-blown stage and the HIV virus which had stayed dormant in a person body for around 10 years, the virus will act up. By this time, the person infected with HIV will show symptoms.

To put it simply, HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is the virus that causes AIDS (Adult Immune Deficiency Syndrome).
