How did AIDS/HIV originate? |
I have heard so many akward rumors about how HIV/AIDS came about and would like to know the truth. Well, viruses are all the time subjects of more or less random gene modification, as when multiplying in a host cell. Mostly, the altered genes doesn't affect the viral capabilities to attach and infect "victims", other times, it might give to virus a disadvantage, maybe making it totally useless, and it will die out from lack of multiplication. Sometimes on the other hand, the virus gains an advantage over its fellow virus by gaining some abilities, and thus might multiply faster. In such a way, we get new viral subfamilies (As the "different" flu each season), and new superfamilies, causing "new" diseases. From what I heard it was brought over from Africa during slavery. The only way AIDS/HIV could've originated is in a LAB ! |
