General Hospital: How did Stone get HIV/AIDS?

I've only been watching the show for a couple of years, and I always hear Robin talking about Stone. (And Sonny sometimes too). I know that he was her boyfriend who had HIV/AIDS, and that's how she got AIDS. And that he was like Sonny's best friend or something. And that he died from HIV/Aids. But how did he get it, did he do drugs or something? Also, is there a difference between HIV and AIDS? (I know that I know the difference, I just can't remember). If so, did Robin and Stone have HIV, AIDS, or both?

He was a street kid and got it through unprotected sex with his girlfriend who was a needle drug user. By the time he found out he had it, it was alredy full blown AIDS and treatment would not help like it has Robin who knew right off the bat that she contractd it from Stone. HIV is the virus before it becomes AIDS, It can be controlled if detected early and you stay healthy. Sonny took Stone in off the streets and became like a brother/father to him.

HIV is the virus that may causes AIDS. HIV belongs to a subset of viruses called retroviruses or slow virus. The deterioration and destruction of immune function leads to AIDS. AIDS is the final stage of the HIV infection. A person is said to have AIDS when the cd4 counts drops below 200 and or a person has 1 or more opportunistic infections.

Stone contracted HIV through unprotected sex w/a previous girlfriend, who was a drug addict. He had initially tested negative for HIV and did not think he had it when he and Robin had unprotected sex. Then he tested positive for HIV, which eventually turned into AIDS and he passed away. Robin found out right before Stone died that she also had HIV. However, unlike Stone who did not discover his HIV status right away, since they caught Robin's virus early, they have been able to contain it using a drug cocktail. Robin only has HIV, not AIDS.

Stone was a great kid and his and Robin's story was one of the best storylines I've seen on GH. You should check them out on You Tube. It was an extremely touching storyline.

When Robin met Stone he was living on the streets. Sonny took him in and gave him a job in his "organization". During the time that he was living on the streets apparently he had unprotected sex and that is how he contracted aids. His character died of the disease. Robin has been diagnosed with HIV which is the virus that causes aids. She takes medicine and the virus is virtually undetectable in her blood stream. She does not have full blown aids, only the virus that causes it.

Robin dated Stone. Stone had AIDS and gave Robin HIV. HIV is the disease in its dormant state; that is, before it spreads and really begins to affect the individual with it. Most people with HIV live for years and years before it becomes AIDS.
Stone got HIV from an infected drug needle. He had used drugs in the past.
Also, Stone used to live with Sonny.

I watched that whole storyline.Stone didn't do drugs.He slept with a girl that did though,Crystal.She gave it to him via sexual contact.That was a heartbreaking storyline.I have it all on tape.

What I want to know is when the heck is Robin going to have her baby ? Seems as if her belly doesn't even grow each month.

Its been a long time, but I could swear he had sex with someone who had aids, just one time...of course my memory could be off...

robin has hiv, now im not a doc or anything, but hiv is like just there, waiting to wake up and destroy the body. as long as robin takes her meds she'll live long good life and hopfully not even pass it on to the baby.now, stone, since it was caught late in the game, he already had full blown aids and sadly passed it on to robin. stone was like a kid bro to sonny and when sonny met stone sonny named him stone cause he said he was like a stone, always being kicked around and not staying in one place. stone's real name was michael cates, so you see the resemblence. sorry to go on, but the robin and stone story is my fave of GH.
