What are some possible health conditions for this baby?

Well, I know this 21 yr old girl who is pregnant with her second child. She's not my friend; just the daughter of my mom's friend.

Her first child was taken away by the authorities because she doesn't work and does drugs.

She's pregnant now like how I said before. Here is what she's been doing through her pregnancy:
- Smoking marijunana and regular cigarettes.
- Xanax
- Crack
- Alcohol
-Speed
- Cocaine
Also while she was pregnant, she sleeps around a lot. She has HPV. I don't think she has HIV, but you never know.
Basically, she has an unhealthy lifestyle.

What effects could this have on her baby?

She does the drugs and alcohol almost every night, thanks.

Should her baby be taken away? It's due in two weeks.

I am NOT a troll

I am actually concerned.

Smoking: Increases risk of low birth weight, if she continues to smoke around the baby after it's birth then the child is at high risk for asthma, ear infections, allergies and lung cancer.

Xanax: Is, I believe, a Class C medication when it comes to pregnancy, they don't really know much about it and if it's really needed by the mother is okay to continue. I babysit for someone who has an anxiety disorder and took Xanax during both her first pregnancy and the baby was perfectly fine- she even breastfed after his birth.

Alcohol: Low birth weight, fetal alcohol syndrome or nothing it depends on how much she drinks; I'm guessing with the rest of her list she isn't using common sense.

Other drugs: Low birth weight, miscarriage, early delivery, addiction in the fetus which after birth the baby will have to go through withdrawl symptoms as the drug is coming out of their system, autism, mental retardation, heart defects, other organ defects, failure to thrive, attachment disorder, death

The baby could have all sorts of physical and emotional health issues. Yes I think this baby should be taken away. The baby will be tested in the hospital and if they find drugs in its system the baby will be taken away. And if this chick is doing all of these drugs you are saying she is then there is a good chance the hospital will know about it. I think it is so sad that there are all these healthy, responsible and loving women who cant have children and then women like this get pregnant.

This baby should most deffinatley get taken away from the mother..

the drugs would affect the baby in al different kinds of ways it would

stunt the babys growth.. the baby would be born with an addiction to

the drugs also..

phone social services as soon as this baby is born

for the babys sake, she is unfit for a child, she dosen't

deserve the responsibility of being a mum..

when the baby is born it will most likely show signs of withdrawal and they will drug test the baby. When the baby tests positive the hospital is required by law to call social services and they will take the baby away.

God, anyone who is that stupid to be doing all this stuff should be ordered to undergo forced sterilization.

WOW she should be sterilised. this can have serious effects on the childs health and i mean very serious the baby will probably have to be weaned of the drugs when it's born. It sould be defenitely taken away i've got 2 kids and i would prefer to never see them again then do any sort of harm to them.

YES!!!! Her baby is in terrible danger. She has already hurt the baby by what she is doing while she is pregnant. Someone needs to notify social services so they can test her..or the very least test the baby when it is born. That poor child needs love and protective, not a selfish self centered girl for a mother.

If she does these drug as often as you say she does, her baby will come out addicted to these drugs as well. The dr will know this and the baby will be taken away from her right there. Im sure her other child was taken away for the reason of drugs but not because she is not employed!

Unfit parents shouldn't have children they can't take care of.
She already is risking this child's life.
It could be born with anything such as Down Syndrome,Die Early, Mental Retardation.

I suggest you report her. If she wants to stuff up her own life fine, but not the innocent babies.

i would phone social services the first chance you get!!!!

honestly, this baby would be better in care than with her x

Sarah I first off commend you for 'Caring'....no less than brilliant on your part. this child has now been exposed to a plethora of things that even if just one would be bad...but this is an out of control range. Ok I have a couple of things to say....I was the child of a woman whom they put on amphetamines in the 50's, as was my sister.....so that the pregnant women would not gain weight...for that then was a no no....i was to be born 10/10 and instead was born at a low birthrate on 8/28 instead...I was NOT a preemie but had a heart murmur....amazing i survived...my sister who was also born early 9/26 and i do NOT recall the birth date called for but she too was early...my sister ended up low birth rate too before the Doctors got Hip & stopped that practice...but my mother was told to drink beer and smoke....I lived...since then my sister has died....and another one at 2 months. BUT these were the practices of Doctors.....all that you have mentioned makes me wonder just how much of anything and i believe an anonymous phone call to a renowned shelter to ask for professional advice is in order.....I have only heard of children subjected to a couple of thee things coming out of th womb crack addicted etc.....You would be doing this child, and of course your peace of mind tomakee some calls in your area on her behalf giving NO NAMES unless instructed todo soo....the child might fooleveryonee and be fine.....today after hat I told you i suffer greatly from sleep apnea...it is SEVERE....and they went back and i toldtheme this about my Mother takingamphetaminess...os theywouldn'tt be out of energy and would slip back into their jeans..face it then they knew no better.....the Ladies here (who have answered) are understanding osyndromealchohol symdrome is a reality and also shows up from the father's side too btw in or at conception. its tentacles are far reaching anddisabilitiesearning disabilties....you are very courageaous for your concern....the women who haev answered above my own are correct full stop! I applaud your caring.....for you seem like a person of action...I know that I could NOT bear to see this in my enviornment. Fortuantely i am not a drinker...though my heart is comporomised and the Apnea is off the charts now i sleep with a CPAP machine.....as of this last week finally i am alway s chronically exhausted....Please Sarah...do what you know and call any of a number of hotlines and ask. I am NOT a professional but I am glad i know what happened to us. 9 children and 6 made it...i am ill and one sister has passed away...i dont mean to give my family litany...but call maybe three authorities...this is no laughing matter as well u know. You might just be saving this child's life! Kudos to you! Maybe a hotline at a children's hospital.....think about it please...until then ...this is great you are caring....my best to you.

I do believe she should be taken away, i was and my mother did about the same as her (crack, cocaine, probably smoked and drank too) I learned the hard way that drugs change the person, mother in this case. But yes the baby should be taken away after being throughly checked for side-effects from all the drug abuse. I was lucky i just came out bipolar...no other major side effects than that.

The baby in question could have one or more of the following:
-Mental Retardation (autism, down syndrom, ect.)
-Baby may be born drug dependent and suffer withdrawal symptoms
-She runs a high risk of passing the virus on to their babies.
-Heavy drinking during early pregnancy greatly increases the risk of a cluster of birth defects known as fetal alcohol syndrome
-The baby will have a higher risk of becoming addicted to the drugs when older.

Those are a few there are many more.
