HIV/AIDS In grade 6-8, or just paranoia?

HIV and AIDS Question, Is it transmitted through saliva?
My brother brought home a school trumpet today from school, we had these old things for so long and no one takes care of them as they used to. The SYSTEM is that you take your instrument out you sanitize it with this pink stuff you dip the mouth piece in and rinse and dry off. You don't wash it(mouth piece) again after wards, for it is left dirty and its the responsibility of the next person to wash off. Anyhow my brother brought it home and forgot to sanitize it , he just decided to wash it with water(not sure what temperature) and some dish soap.

He decided to play it, blowing and having a little fun. Now I am in a grade 6-8 middle school, and some grade 8 people(even lower) DO drugs and lost their virginity, and we all play the same instruments with the same mouthpiece. SO lets assume one had HIV, passing it on to others through saliva, well my brother is in this position, if he has any cuts on his mouth he can get HIV.. correct?

is it even transmitted through spit what if spit gets in the wound, what if wound gets in the mouth..? (blood on mouth piece)

my parents don't care" no grade 6-8 wil have AIDS even so its not spread that way"

Your brother's washing off of the mouthpiece with soap and water is adequate. He's not going to catch AIDS. Your brother is a smart guy. You should listen to him.

THE HIV VIRUS DIES WITHIN SECONDS OF HITTING THE AIR...TRUST ME PEOPLE PUT THEIR MOUTHS ON DIRTY THINGS EVERY DAY AND THEY ARE NOT CATCHING AIDS FROM IT.

AIDS IS TRANSMITTED THRU SEXUAL INTERCOURSE, ORAL/ANAL SEX, SHARING NEEDLES, AND FROM INFECTED MOTHER TO BABY.

YOUR BROTHER IS NOT GOING TO CATCH AIDS FROM THE MOUTH PIECE...BUT HE NEEDS TO BE MORE RESPONSIBLE AND SANITIZE THINGS THAT ARE GOING INTO HIS MOUTH.

There would have to be 10 gallons of saliva to find enough HIV to infect a person. If the mouth piece was dry there is NO chance of any HIV infection. Even if it's was wet, HIV dies once it leave the body.

Your brother would have to have an open wound in his mouth and drink Gallons of saliva to contract it that way. Even then, it's a slim chance.

The HIV virus does not last long once exposed to the environment. Once the virus is outside of the body it can survive for only several minutes or less.
There is no need to be concerned.
