If STDs can be passed in semen.. Could drugs (perscription or not) affect a pregnant womans baby trough semen? |
My wife is pregnant and I just had a hip replacement and am on some major prescription drugs. Diseases are in your blood and thats how they travel throughout the body (HIV AIDS) so if they can affect the semen, all these prescription drugs that are in me also can right? If you think about it there just going to deposited right next to the baby through unprotected sex... no? Can my wife's body absorb it and therefor affect the fetus? Yes. In fact, there are several medications out there that warn for women who are pregnant or may become pregnant not to come into contact with the medication. Speak to your doctor and pharmacist about possible reactions, precautions, and symptoms of the medications on your wife and child. It's not that simple. There are certainly drugs that women should not ingest or handle. Drugs that treat enlarged prostates are good examples. When a woman handles Avodart, the risk of birth defects is so high that she is suppose to wait 6 months before attempting to conceive. |
