Why do Christians have to worry about STD's????

I just asked a question:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?...

And in it, I mentioned that theists don't have to worry about STD's. And people attacked that statement, saying we DO have to worry about them!!

Now, I can't speak for ALL theists, but I do know that Christians are only supposed to have sex with one person: your spouse.
So, if you only have sex with your spouse, and your spouse only has sex with you, and neither of you were born with STD's (a safe assumption, assuming your parents were also good Christians)
AND, since only 2% of AIDS cases come from anything other than sex or drugs
http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/topics/surveillan...

Then....

WHERE DO THE STD'S COME FROM???

I guess atheists failed Biology class!!!!!

Republican,
A true Christian shoul.d never have to woory about any STD. He/she should never hav3e such a problem at all. They might be concerned about a friend or a relative though. We all have friends and relatives who are NOT Christians. Have a wonderful weekend.
Thanks,
Eds

.

So a 'true christian' can't get an STD in the same way that a 'true muslim' can't be a terrorist? Report It

Toilet seats.

Ummm...hypocrisy?

You are right. I have never worried for a second since I married my Christian wife.

I do use birth control though.
My wife just got an IUD yahoooo

OK, I just realized that you are absolutely not for real. No one could possibly think like this.

christians are a strange bunch, they only follow the rules they like and blame the devil for the rest

Careful, you're displaying some of that "logic" that's allegedly brainwashed out of Christians when they join the "cult."

STD's come from all of the hypocritical theists who are sleeping around with prostitutes and drug addicts and then bringing it back to their lovers, wives and children.

i dont....im with him since feb 04

Your wife.

Everyone in town has had the itchy scratchies since she was here last month.

Your assuming every christian is perfect which is completely wrong, because no one is perfect except God. Christians do mess up and do things they are not supposed to do.

Christians are just as sexually active as anyone else. Now you are talking silly. SG

Just because you're not supposed to have sex 'cause your religion tells you to, doesn't mean the person you marry automatically followed those rules.

The theory that sins will be forgiven if you're fully repentant leaves open a very real oportunity for your significant other to sin & sin & sin, (without protection, 'cause if they're already sinning, then why take precautions? And they probably weren't educated fully on sex)

STD's are viruses & bacteria & fungi, just like any infectious disease.

They are most commonly transferred through sex, but any exchange of bodily fluids, or in some cases, skin to skin contact can result in an infection.

All people should be concerned about STDs... not just people who are having sex.

Education is the key, and the issue with theists is the demonization of sex in all forms outside marriage, resulting in poor decision making due to lack of information on the risks inherent in sex. Just because you have sex before marriage does not mean you'll get an STD... just like waiting till you're married is no guarantee.

If you have nothing to worry about then why are you making an issue out of it?My parents are Atheists and they are STD free.Go figure that all it takes is knowing about STD's and taking proper measures to not get any.Anyone can know that.Including homosexuals.Which, by the way, worldwide estimates place heterosexuals and children as the largest newly infected cases and risk factors for HIV/AIDS.In case you were trying to make a point there.

P.S.
STD's don't care about what God you worship.

Christians aren't born Christians. Some come to Christ very late in life, and they carry in their bodies the baggage of their past life. Sometimes this is an STD in a dormant state.

As for HIV, I have a friend who is a Christians that contracted HIV through a blood transfusion.

Does sexually transmitted not include rape? How does the virus know the difference?

Yes, it is our problem.

Not all christians toe your preset lines either - Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Bakker... and I'm sure there is more.

Just because one is christian or any other belief does not guarantee they are going to remain a virgin until they marry or use proper protection which puts anyone in that situation, regardless of belief, at risk for STDs.

Christians have to worry about it because your spouse may not have always been a Christian. Maybe he/she slept around a lot before being convicted. Maybe he/she was a heroin addict before being saved. Maybe because nobody is perfect, even though being Christian, you can still make mistakes and cheat on your spouse.

Consequences dictate my actions.

What Christians ought to do, and what they actually do, are worlds apart. Just take a wild guess at what percent of the STD population would say "I believe in God." Would you be surprised to know that the greatest number of them not only "believe in God," but are overly representative of the "Bible belt?"

No, we did well in biology. We didn't do so hot in the wishful thinking department.

Sure, you could say that if you don't have sex before marriage *and* neither does your spouse, *and* neither of you cheat on the other, then you don't have to worry about STDs. However, this has nothing to do with belief in God. Atheists can abstain from sex before marriage, too.
The rate of divorce and infidelity is the same among Christians as it is among the general population.

Lots of christians have sex and do drugs (maybe because of the guilt their religions inflict on them?) -- so simply believing in a judgemental god (Theism) doesn't mean you don't have to worry about STDs.

Based on that logic, you could say Muslims live a fuller life than Christians, because they don't drink alcohol (while Christians do), so they don't have to worry about cirrhosis.
It's a logical fallacy...not unlike theism (imho).

There's what you're /supposed/ to do, and you actualy do. I don't think you can honestly claim that no christian has ever broken any commandment.

There's also what you may have done prior to becoming Christian.

Then there's what other people might do to you without your consent...

Your right we shouldnt
