AIDS, DRUGS, PROSTITUTION: Is there help anywhere?

I have a dear and wonderful young friend but she has gone so far astray and it breaks my heart. She had a very good profession as an R.N. but how or when I don't know, she began using illegal drugs. She got arrested and fled. Eventually she was caught and went to jail.
She is in her mid fourties and all her life wanted nothing more than for her mother to love her. She just could not ever meet mom's approval and with all she has gone through still craves this.
Upon release from jail she turned to prostitution to feed here drug habit. This led to HIV and now full blown AIDS.
This lady is a loving, caring, good person but she is so messed up and it breaks my heart but I don't know how to help her. She keeps in touch w/me periodically. She is in her 40's and looks 80. It is heart breaking. I want to take her in and get her help.
Please, if you know tell me where to begin.

Bless you for caring! Try a hospice(place for those who have aids) at least that`s what we call them in canada...contact your nearest aids related organization...our millions of dollars must be going somewhere...i mean besides the drug companies. Good luck and God bless your loving heart.

I'm sorry but this is her problem not yours. Make sure she wants to get help.Call your local agencies.

I'm sorry to hear that. Tell others and warm them not to get involved with drugs. Use her as an example.

This is an old and common story babe!! You are a good friend, but truth is....This is HER own fault. SHE made the choice. No, "boo-hoo I had a bad childhood", excuses!! Many have bad childhoods, and CHOOSE to live a better life. I too, know of many people like this...it IS sad, but it's too late for her, unfortunately. All you could do now, is take her in and help her die in peace. She's lucky to have you.

wow she looks 80, it must be a meth addiction. but anyways there are a lot stuff like rehabs and proffesional help. theres things like group therapy for people with same problems. like the show rent. the guy had aids and he went to the group therapy thingy. but you have to see the real problem. its wanting attention. making yourself hurt so others can finally recognize you and love you. you said she wants her mother, thats the first thing to make things right. really to be honest its not the drugs thats making her the way she is today, its her mother. when no one loves you or shows it, you rebel and make people love you. i may be young but ive seen many of these before.
