How can a common person help in the fight against HIV?

I know that abstinence and condoms and staying away from risky sexual behaviors or other risk factors like drugs help. Other than this would be more informative for me at least.

Donating to an organization can be helpful, but what are other more direct alternatives?

I don't know of any place where anyone can just volunteer around my area, maybe one of you knows a site?

Planned Parenthood, Red Cross, hospital needle exchange programs, Health Department, and even different clinics could use help. Offer to hand out AIDS pamphlets, help needle exchanges get done (but don't get a needle stick). I commend your desire to help, if you aren't readily accepted there check the liver society for volunteer work on behalf of HCV (Hepatitis C) carriers. I know that HCV has a hard time getting help from government, and could allways use a volunteer. Good Luck in your search. It's a worthwhile one.

Places like Planned Parenthood would be a great place to start. I'm sure there is something at a local school/college/university that you could participate in as well. Very noble of you to want to help, good luck!

you can help by keep talking or make contact to them, i guess that willl make them feel that they are accepted by the society n that they will not feel lonely n depressed by it. two thumbs up for u!
