Why do we tend to fight the things we don鈥檛 want?

Like world hunger, poverty, AIDS/ HIV, drugs, cancer, terrorism, obesity. I鈥檓 not sure how many of you are familiar with the universal law of attraction, but it is known that whatever we bring into our lives we attracted it with the energy of our minds and emotions. And it鈥檚 believed that the reason why were having all of these unfortunate epidemics is because of the mindsets of the people. And with all of this energy, emotion going into these things the universe basically 鈥渢hinks鈥?we want more of it, so it keeps showing up. Many different philosophers believed in this law, and I was thinking if we just stop fighting all together we may see more results than we鈥檙e having now. What do you think?

I believe that there is a law of "magnetism", that what we focus on expands, for good or for bad. "The thoughts we habitually entertain have a tendency to actualize themselves into physical conditions". That our wills and choices ,efforts and faith become the mainstay of what happens to us. Emerson wrote; "In the long run man basically hits what he aims at". As far as the battle goes, I like Einstein's "The world is a dangerous place, not because of evil but because of the people who don't do anything about it". There's another good one for pessimists-"How many pessimists desire the things they fear in order to prove they're right"?

You found this theory in the school of metaphysics. There are also people who believe that the world is flat.

We fought polio, smallpox, chicken pox, and lots of other diseases for which we now have vaccines. Many people have successfully fought against slavery and tyrannical dictatorships.

I would have to say that we fight the things we don't want because fighting is a much better way to end them than is doing nothing.

I agree completely Amy.

I doubt it this will ever happen though because people are to afraid to have faith in the process. They want things the way that they want them, and are too afraid of change to just wait and see what is going to happen.

This is unfortunate because I have often been pleasantly surprised by the outcome when I just let it happen.

Love and blessings Don

ez we fight them because we just dont like it.

I think the "universal law of attraction" is not actually a scientific law and although some philosophers may agree with i'm sure many also disagree with it.
Plus, It just doesn't stir up as much enthusiasm up to fight for svelte attractiveness.

The truth?.....It is because we are 'human'

Cause we want to live a happy life , without any undesired items ..

I have to agree with you on this and add this as well. Too much one one thing is good for nothing. I don't know if you are familiar with something. I have to say that I am very satisfied with the way you worded your question and views. The word "Thinks" is the crucial word in your question. What we "Think" is best doesn't necessarily mean that it "IS" best hence all of the chaos in the world right now. The human ego, in my opinion, is to blame.

Very good question and debate.

feed the stringent in you that you wish to be strong and it well be strong .as Michael Jackson says it all starts with the man in the mirror

Uh, because we don't want them?
