My husband is worried about Getting HIV from drug use.how can you catch HIV?

His buddy is now HIV posotive and they did drugs together many times. His duddy is gay but my husband swares to be straight.I don't know how long he will stay clean this time around.but the idear of possiblity of HIV has got him worried.

HIV can transmit through the use of unclean needles if he is/was an injection drug user. If he and his friend shared needles in the past, and your husband is unsure of his HIV status, I recommend you BOTH get tested ASAP! This can be done through your doctor, or your local county health department.

IDU (injection drug use) is always VERY risky behavior, and if he cannot stay clean, he should at the very least use clean needles. If you fear this is not possible, I'd recommend having him attend a treatment center.

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact your local department of public health. Free testing is available, as well as risk reduction, and post-infection counseling.

Sounds to me like we are pretty far down on the evolutionary scale.

All research shows that so long as he uses clean needles w/his drugs and condoms when he has sex w/men , including his "Buddy" that may be HIV+ (and you do to) he shouldn't have to worry.

If he is concerned I have another option. He could stop with the risky behavior.

You should worry. IV drug users and their partners have a high risk of contracting HIV.
