Paranoid of catching something from my nurse fiance....help!? |
My soon to be husband is a registered nurse. I am always afraid he is going to bring home some terrible contagious disease like meningitis or HIV without even realizing it. And I'm also afraid of the "superbugs", like MRSA staph infections and things like that. I've told him I don't want to hear about those kinds of things, but it just makes me nervous that he'll get sick and then I'll get sick. I don't even want him to be around the house in his nursing scrubs. Somebody please tell me something to calm my mind!! Thanks.... At hospitals they try to make sure everything is sterile. If he's following what they've asked him to do, then he'll be perfectly fine. He's probably using gloves, and washing his hands everytime, also for the safety of a patient. Don't be worried. Plus, i dont believe he can come home with HIV...and deff. not Aids, unless hes doing something he shouldnt. Good luck. i think it may just be paranoia, just remember that hospitals try to be as sterile and safe as possible. more than likely you would catch nothing more than a cold. medical staff are trained to be clean and consistently take every patient as a potential threat...therefore even if you dont suspect someone has something, you take the measures as if they do. if you really wanted to make sure he didnt bring anything home, ask him to change out of his scrubs at his work bathroom before he leaves (As this is the proper measures all medical staff are supposed to take). After he has removed his scrubs, he should place them in a plastic bag and bring them home. Working as a nurse is a difficult job and i think u should be praising your fiance:) P.S DON"T WORRY!!:D It's unlikely that you would catch anything from his scrubs, but it wouldn't be out of line for him to shower and wash his scrubs when he gets home anyway. I'm also a nurse and I treat myself like biohazzard until I get out of the shower! lol! Good luck. |
