Smallpox vaccine 'triggered Aids virus'

The Aids epidemic may have been triggered by the mass vaccination campaign which eradicated smallpox. The World Health Organization, which masterminded the 13-year campaign, is studying new scientific evidence suggesting that immunization with the smallpox vaccine Vaccinia awakened the unsuspected, dormant human immuno defence virus infection (HIV).

That's totally false and fiction. There is no such study by the World Health Organization. The mass vaccination against smallpox is done with a vaccine prepared NOT from smallpox patients but from cowpox virus, a more benign disease which "milkmaids" (women who milked cows) got and was discovered about 200 years ago.

The closest to your comment happened a couple of years ago during the time the World Health Organization was trying to get rid of the disease called polio. Muslim leaders in Nigeria (Africa) claimed that the vaccinations were a Western World attempt to spread the AIDS virus. As a result polio remains in Nigeria today - one of the last 5 countries to still have active polio.

The AIDS virus has virtually no relationship to the smallpox virus.

The smallpox virus could and was (except for stocks frozen in a number of countries) eradicated because its only host was human.

The HIV virus not only has a (so far undiscovered) reservoir in nature but survives because of human-human contact, and human-blood products contact. Eradicating this disease will require finding the reservoir (as is also the case with ebola).
