Is it possible for this to happen?

Well, I have this school project (yes, in Canada we still have school...or at least our region does lol) about diseases and infections (STDs and STIs too) and I was wondering if it was possible for a person to get an infection such as HIV from touching any object (plastic, cardboard, whatever) while bleeding, and get a disease or infection. If yes are there any cases when the risk becomes higher, and any cases where it becomes lower like if it's a smaller amount of blood?

The possiblity of someone contracting HIV by the scenario you describe is possible if the object has HIV-contaminated fluid on it and the bleeding person makes prolonged, direct contact (wound to fluid) and the contaminated fluid is within a few minutes old. HIV can't survive very long outside the body. Actually your scenario is highly improbable.

It is far, far more possible, however, to get a Staph or Strep bacterial infection this way than it is to contract HIV or any other disease.

No. HIV does'nt involve anybody with these
routes. it is possible only by:

(1)-Blood transfusion.
(2)-Sexual activity.
(3)-Entering body fluid into next body.
(4)-Maternal

Thus, dont be worry about your examples.
