Types of infection in healed piercing?

I've had my septum pierced for about 11 months, or so, and I am sure that it is fully healed, but recently I was at the mall, and I touched my nose-ring at the base of the piercing with unwashed hands. I am wondering if it is in any sense possible to contract a virus like HIV from such an incident? Thank you in advance!

You can cause an infection or contract something else, but you absolutely can not contract HIV in that way.
What you've done is no different than folks that touch shopping cart handles or public doors and then not washing their hands before having lunch. ;) You can get sick, but again, you can not contract HIV.

To contract HIV it must travel through the bloodstream. Here are the ways that happens:
Blood to blood contact. (sharing needles for drugs/tattoos/peircings/tranfusions, etc...)
Sexual Intercourse.
Prenatal. (birth mother being infected while pregnant)
That's it, you're safe. :)

If you come into contact with infected fluids that are outside the body, it is very easy to kill HIV outside the body.

Heat
Hand soap
Hydrogen peroxide
Anything with 25% alcohol
Bleach
Lysol or any other disinfectant

Just keep your hands clean from now on and never touch your face unless they are just washed.

Hope this helped!
