WEIRD QUESTION ABOUT INFECTION?

Okay, so today my boyfriend had given me back my Debit card he used the other day to get gas. (Which he handed to the attendant) he gave it back to me and i put it in my wallet, but i didn't have any hand sanitizer. So when i went to get out of the car and get my things i dropped some of my clean clothes (mainly my undies =[) out of my bag and i had to pick them back up. If i washed them 2Xwith Bleach and detergent will they be okay to wear? Or should i throw them away because im at risk of infection of something like HIV? I know its weird but your insight is much appreciated...;I have a big germ a phobia. ty

HIV is not an virus that can survive for long outside the body. It certainly could not have managed to be passed through handling a debit card. If you dropped your clothes on the ground outside of the car, you may have picked up some bacteria from the ground. If you washed them with bleach, this destroyed the bacteria, and they are sufficiently sanitary enough to wear.

If you have a germ phobia and you want to be really safe, hand-wash the undies in the sink or bathtub, and let them hang to dry in a place that you know is clean. This will let you know that you cleaned them personally, and that nothing could possibly live on them after that.

First you can't get HIV and any viral disease by wearing dirty undies - unless you are the unluckiest person in the world. You can just wash them regularly. Using bleach might ruin your undies. If you Must use bleach, use distilled vinegar instead. Putting a cup or 2 will have enough acidity to kill bacteria and virus. Use hot water if you Must but you don't need to. Just wash it regularly with a good detergent, it will be clean enough of eat of it.

I think if you just wash your clothes like you normally would, you'll be fine. Soap and water can kill most germs. You most certainly are not at risk for HIV that way-HIV is not spread through that type of contact. You can contract HIV from unsterilized needles or sex with someone who is infected. Actually, you really shouldn't be afraid of germs-most germs out there are helpful to life on this planet, not harmful. So be not afraid of them :-)

You are a germophobic and it is OK to be cautious. There is a slim to nothing chance that you would catch anything, especially if you washed your clothing.

P.S. HIV dies once it hits the air. You need direct skin to skin contact.

FYI, Hepatitis C can stay alive for 7 days on a countertop. The good news is that it needs to come in contact with an open sore to infect you. So, you are safe, especially since you bleached everything.

Go ahead and use what you have.

Hey, to the 1st answer...if you went to med school, you'd know that amoxil will do nothing to the aids virus..you'd also know how to spell florida...
Bleach should do it, I wouldn't worry about it.

As long as you wash them in very hot water you will be fine. You may want to use some oxyclean, that product is a Godsend!
