How doesHIV control the body? |
HIV can cause a deadly infection which is thought to have evolved from a non-human primate virus. In your own words, answer the following questions about how it is transmitted and how it affects the body in one to two well-developed paragraphs. HIV infects cells by binding to the CD4 surface protein. It infects and destroys T helper cells. A normal immune response occurs soon afer the initial infection. HIV is neutralized and tagged for destruction by antibodies and virus levels drop. However some viral DNA survives incorporated into the T cell DNA and this produces new virus particles whever infected T cells are activated. Even though new T cells are continually produced, the virus evenutally wins, and T cell numbers begin to drop. The immune system cannot function without T cells and diseases normally prevented by a healthy immune system occur - AIDS. a.) Wherever fluid enters the body. A virus which is dessicated by the air cannot function. HIV transmits through fluids..like cuts..or the vagina :D I'm sure you could search wikipedia and find a better answer than anyone on here and you will get a better grade on your homework. |
