Gay sex...more than just a religious issue, but a medical one as well.?

A 1997 study in British Columbia found the life expectancy of men who engage in sodomy to be comparable to that of the average Canadian man in 1871. Researchers estimate that nearly half of the 20 year old men currently engaging in sodomy will not reach their 65th birthday.1

Ninety-five percent or more of the AIDS infections among gay men result from receptive anal intercourse.2

The risk of anal cancer "soars" by nearly 4,000% for men who have sex with men. The rate doubles again for those who are HIV positive. A Michigan homosexual newspaper admits there is no such thing as "safe sex" to prevent this "soaring" cancer risk. Condoms offer only limited protection.

Homosexual men face a significantly higher risk of HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, anal cancer, gonorrhea and gastrointestinal infections as a result of their sexual practices.

Men who engage in sodomy are 860% more likely to contract a sexually transmitted disease (STD), increasing up to 500% their risk of contracting HIV/AIDS. Men who commit acts of sodomy with men have large numbers of anonymous partners, which can result in rapid, extensive transmission of STDs. Control of STDs is a central component of HIV infection prevention in the United States; resurgence of bacterial STDs threatens national HIV infection prevention efforts.

Anal Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection is nearly universal among HIV-positive homosexual or bisexual men and about 60% in HIV-negative men exhibiting the same sexual behavior.

So, even if sodomy in general and not just gay sex, is not a "big deal" with your faith (or the lack there of) what about the medical issues of it??

For someone who (probably) wants me to believe you don't engage in anal sex, you have an uncomfortable body of knowledge concerning it, EDIT: or a curious level of interest in it.

My opinion is that if you're opposed to gay sex, stop having it.

That's interesting...If what you're saying is true, I guess it is a bit of a medical issue. Homosexuals need to practice safer sex.

The definition of homosexuality is not "anal sex between two men" ... it's people like you who promote the fear and hatred that this country breeds around homosexuality, when in fact it is a very beautiful thing because it's about one thing and one thing only: love.

Free Republic doesn't exactly have the best reputation for honesty.

Now, how about you cite the study, and tell us which group peer-reviewed it? It runs in direct contradiction to what is found by respectable medical organizations all over the word, AND it's coming from Free Republic, which are two huge holes to fill before any reasonable person is going to believe any of this.

Here's the fact: even if EVERY SINGLE GAY MAN DIED INSTANTLY upon contracting HIV (which is obviously untrue, both on how fast it kills, and the percentage of gay men that actually get AIDS), it would not significantly change the average life expectancy of gay males, simply because there are so many who don't have HIV or AIDS at all that it wouldn't put a dent in it statistically. In this country alone, a "whopping" 0.3% of the gay male population contract HIV annually. They are BORN faster than that, doofus.

I checked out your source and it is ultra-conservative (I had my suspicions). Of course they are going to say that about anal sex. Many conservative types do not approve of the gay lifestyle. Perhaps you need to find a less biased source that proves those same points (I am guessing you can't because that was a bunch of medical bs).

This is when religion starts to piss me off. It`s one thing to talk to yourself (pray) and believe in imaginary creatures. It is an entirely another thing to preach hatred by condemning a certain group of individuals based on their sexual orientation.

It's not my problem. If people engage in behavior that increases their medical risks, that is their choice. I don't go out campaigning against people eating fastfood, or smoking cigarettes in the privacy of their homes, or driving cars, or for doing a myriad number of activities that increase one's health risks. Also, are there any more current studies? Because HIV in gay men has dropped significantly since the 90s.
Anal intercourse increases the risk of AIDS because the lining of the anus tears more easily than the lining of the vagina, so infection is more likely in such a case. (How about partners get tested to make sure neither is positive? That cuts the HIV risk)
I believe I read that by having vaginal sexual intercourse, women increase their chances of ovarian cancer. Should they be condemned for choosing to do so anyway? (I'm guessing most people think not).
Are you suggesting something should be done to limit a person's sexual freedoms (outlaw anal sex? or what?)
