Bloodtest results?

I recently (2 weeks ago) had some routine bloodtests done at my first pregnancy appointment at the hospital. 2 of the tests were Hepititis and HIV tests. It sounds silly since I know the chances of having these are slim, but I'm so nervous about the results! I called the hospital and they said some of the results are back and some aren't but i'll have to ask my G.P to ring them to find out the results anyway. Help me, I'm so nervous waiting!
The only result I've had is my urine test which says I have a Urinary tract infection, but my doctor is puzzled because theres no white blood cells in my urine... He couldn't tell me what this meant. Help i'm confused about this too x

Try not to worry too much. The Hepatitis and HIV tests are basically just for precautionary measures. If you know your partners, and their history, you shouldn't worry about these. I too was really nervous about these test results when I asked my doctor to do them right before I was married. But everything came out fine. I'm not too sure about the whole UTI thing, because usually the way that we tell if there is an infection is from the white blood cells in the urine. You need to clarify with him why he thinks you have a UTI.

Try not to stay too upset. I have been through waiting periods for blood tests too. If you do not receive results after a week, demand them, and if they still are giving you a wait period then the test results have probably been sent to another state or district to be examined for pure clarity.

It means that you probably don't have a urinary tract infection. Sometimes, your body will kick it on its own.

As far as HIV is concerned, it IS very hard to contract. If you are healthy, and have no other known STDs, your chances of contracting HIV really are minimal. Hep is MUCH easier to get, although the chances of you getting that are slim, too, unless you were totally promiscuous.

If it puts your mind at ease, though, having HIV does not mean that you can't have a baby. It means that you would have to take AZT for the duration of your pregnancy, which, in 75% of cases, will keep the virus from passing to the fetus.

You're probably just nervous, though, just like I was. Relax. Everything is probably fine, but even if it's not, these things are no longer the death sentence they used to be.

First there is no need to get yourself upset about this. I had the same exact thing happen to me. I was so nervous about this test that I made myself sick. Come to find out everything was negative. Your doctor will tell you either way. If in the event one is positive there are medications that you can take so the baby does not get it. Just relax and enjoy your pregnancy because either way you are still going to have a beautiful baby soon. Lots of Luck!!!!!
