Can you have HPV or genital warts without having sex?

another question: Once genital warts have been treated and have disappeared, can you have unprotected sex without any fear of transmitting the infection? and just because you have HPV, what are the chances that you may have HIV? I need answers from competent and qualified persons..please

HPV is a known SEXUALLY transmitted disease, so "no" you can not develop the virus unless you are sexually active.

HPV can remain dormant in the body, and almost always shows no symptoms. This contributes to the 80% chance of catching the virus.

If you have been diagnosed with HPV and are dating, you need to practice safe sex irregardless of visual symptoms.

Any STD raises the risk factor for acquiring HIV.

I don't believe you could have genital warts, but HIV yes you could get that.

1. any std is gotten from sex or with hHIV, needles as well.
2. genital warts can come back, there is no real cure
3. the virus may lay dormant for years, or you may just be a carrier..

you can get genital warts without having sex. If someone with a cold sore goes down south for oral sex that will give you the disease. Also, there is no cure for the warts, so yes you can spread it. (even when you don't have an outbreak) I don't know all that much about HPV. But common sense will tell you to bag it, unless you want to have a kid.

if you want excitment without the side effects, than the best way is clean testing before the bed action

HPV can be contracted at birth, there are more than 50 different strains of the virus. Genital warts are caused by a strain of HPV. this virus does not go away, it will always be there and is transmittable. therefore, if you have unprotected sex, you can transmit the disease. not all persons with HPV ever have a break out, though it can be passed with out knowledge (does that makes sense?).
Point is, HPV is transmittable, can cause genital warts, coldsores, and even some forms of cancer; DONT HAVE UNPROTECTED SEX!!!!
Not sure aboout the HIV/HPV correlation.
