The real problem?

hi guys, i am telling my real problem to all of u. pls answer my last qn carefully. if a drink contains the blood of an hiv infected person and drank by a normal person, does he carry the risk of infection. how if the normal person have some inner wounds

No beacuase the moment the HIV virus meets air it dies. So the only way for you to get that is if there is direct blood to blood contact. Such as too wounds rubbing against eachother

if the drink contains blood there is a chance yes, usually the disease HIV does die when it hits air because it has to have the right temperature to live outside the body so if you are in doubt get tested and do it again 6 months from now and again 6 months after that if all is neg you should be in the clear.

The risk is probably minimal. The digestive system is one of your bodies main components to your immune system. The gastric juices in your stomach is too acidic for most organisms to survive. Then from the acidic stomach you go to a basic small intestines. The environment is not conducive for microbe propagation. If you had a bleeding ulcer I guess there would be a chance but it would still be a pretty low chance.

OK, time to correct some incorrect information.

While it is theoretically possible for blood present in a drink to infect someone else if they intake the blood into their body and it somehow enters there blood stream before hitting the stomach acid,it has never been recorded. In this case, the activity would be labelled a negligble/theoretical risk.....because there is a transfer of one of the four body fluids no one can say with 100% certainty that transmission will never occur but so far it has not been recorded and there are millions of documented transmissions on the books

The reason why oral sex (oral-penile/vaginal) is considered to be a low risk activity for HIV transmission (regardless of whether condoms/dental dams are used) is because the oral cavity is a pretty inhospitable environment for HIV. Our mouths are used often and provide a pretty tough layer of skin when compared to the vaginal or anal cavities. This helps protect us. As well, saliva has been shown to have anti-HIV properties.

It is important to note that there are things that can put us at INCREASED risk for HIV infection occuring in the oral cavity and esophagus.....
-cuts/tears in the skin of the mouth
-presence of other STI infections in the oral cavity (lesions/ulcers) which can be a direct portal for HIV to leave/enter
-burns
-chronic dry mouths for whatever reason (smoking drugs, certian medications, and certain conditions)
-recent dental work (more common in my experience with patients whose only risk factor for becoming HIV+ was oral sex.. You should wait for a few days after recent dental work before engaging in unprotected oral sex.
-many of us don't take proper care of our teeth and sometimes when we brush or floss we can see visible evidence of blood near our gumline. This can also act as a portal. It is recommended therefore that a person wait 30min to 2 hours after brushing/flossing before engaging in oral sex. AND a reminder to all people if you like oral sex, make sure you take care of your oral cavity with dental visits and regularly brush/floss your teeth.
