Quick question?

I am 15, I got my ears pierced about 7-8 years ago. They got infected and closed up not long after. I was planning on getting it done again, however while doing some further reading into the subject I discovered that the method they used to get the earring in (a piercing gun) can cause infections such as HIV. This worries me a bit, i don't have much of a knowledge of HIV/AIDS.....but would I know if I had contracted it from getting my ears pierced if it happened so many years ago? I am a bit of a worry wart so please don't judge me.

I also wanted to say that place I went to, in general was clean.

The only way you could get HIV/AIDS from a piercing gun is if it's not clean/sterile, if the earring/needle was used previously, etc. If a new earring is being put in (which I assume is), and the place you get it done is clean and sanitary, you should be just fine. I got my ears pierced several years ago, then got infected and I let them close. A few years later, I got them done again, and I've been fine. I learned that mine got infected because the jeweler put the backing on too tight and not enough oxygen could get in, so your infection could easily have nothing to do with the piercing gun.

I hope this helps!

When I got my easr pierced the first time (8 years of age) they got infected and they closed up. I got them pierced again not too long ago. You can ask for them to not use the gun and use the plastic one. It's just a piece of plastic that will push the ear ring through, thus, no infection.

if you are worried about HIV get off the internet and see a doctor i highly doubt it the people here cant possibly know what you have they dont know anything about the needle except that you used it ...........it is very idiotic to ask people online see a doctor immediately you arent a worry wart if you were you would have tooken proper action and went to see a doctor dont get brainwashed into thinking yahoo answers can solve all your problems go see a doctor please
