okay i just recently went to the gynecologist to get checked because i had a fishy smelling discharge, & they took a smaple to get results to see what it is that's causing the discharge, & i was wondering if this means that they will be able to tell if it's aids or hiv, or an infection or a disease that's causing this?

A fishy vaginal odor is usually due to bacterial vaginosis. This is a result from an overgrowth of normal bacteria in the vagina. Treatment usually involves either watching to see if it clears up on its own, or the use of antibiotics. It's not usually necessary for your sex partner to be treated. You can read more about BV here

In the mean time refrain from douching. Douching can not only disrupt the normal pH of your body, but can also make it more open to infection. Also avoid any type of sprays or powders. You will need to see your doctor for an exam and testing for confirmation.
To help prevent BV eat at least 8 oz (226.8 g) of yogurt with live L. acidophilus cultures as part of your long-term daily diet. Consider using birth control pills, which reduce the hormonal changes in the vagina that may lead to BV. Limit the number of your sex partners. Multiple sex partners increase your risk of developing BV by changing the normal environment of the vagina. Only leave a tampon or diaphragm in for a limited length of time.

HIV/AIDS is tested through a blood draw. Some other infections can be determined with a smear. Possibly a yeast infection.

They will be able to tell, depending on what tests are run. In order to accurately detect HIV, a blood sample is needed. It sounds like you probably have a yeast infection. You will be tested for a few STDs (chlamydia, gonnorhea, HPV). The doctor will let you know what the results are.

Mainly because you have a discharge it does not mean that you have anything it coukd be a little yets that all dont trip about it you will be ok

based on the details you gave.. it could be a STI (sorry, i know that sounds bad) but it also could be something like too much bacteria or something.

but it could be something else too.
depending on the color, and consistency, and so on. i'm sure it's not hiv though.

it could be bacterial vaginosis, which would have a fishy odor and discolored drainage (white/gray/yellowish) which isnt an STI but it could be.. depending..

i think i should stop grossing you out now. but its' great that you got that checked out. follow up with your doc asap to figure it out.

having multiple partners also makes infections worse.
