How will interracial dating effect the rate of AIDS infection in the USA?

Currently black women aquire HIV at a rate of 17 to 1 when compared to women of European decent.

Interracial dating will certainly increase the rate of AIDS, syphilis, herpes, gonorrhea, and just about every other sexually transmitted disease.

Your figure for the rate ratio, black female to white female, for HIV infections is nearly correct, according to the statistics from the CDC's HIV Surveillance study, which has been in progress from the 1980s until the present. When I first found the CDC data in 2000, Black heterosexual males were about 14 times more likely to be HIV-positive than White heterosexual men.

It appears that the racial gap has widened since then, to a Black to White HIV infection rate ratio of about 18.6 for heterosexual males and 18.3 for females in 2004. That assumes the US population ratio, White non-Hispanic to Black non-Hispanic, in the 17-44 age group, was 5.639 for both males and females.

Incidentally, that same population ratio was 5.791 in 2001, 5.744 in 2002, and 5.691 in 2003.

Furthermore, Blacks are 31.1 times more likely to be infected with syphilis and 44.0 times more likely to be infected with gonorrhea, as compared with Whites. The point of the CDC's statistics on rate of HIV infection by race isn't what will happen to you if you get AIDS. Rather, the point is the probability of being infected.

Thats a good, yet also offensive question. If people pay attention to the education we have given the youth and older people of today, then hopefully more people will prevent getting infected and get tested.

Not at all, since HIV is a virus. It doesn't care what race you are, it just wants to infect you.

People need to value themselves enough to practice safer sex, EVERY time, no matter whom they partner with. Then they will have nothing to worry about.

I urge people like you to think about the broader picture before they spew statistics and come to rash correlations.

I know where you got your "statistics" from as I have heard them used before in Sociological peer-reviewed journals that I currently read.

You might also begin to understand that the reason cited for such high numbers in the African-American female community is the segregation. Black women are the most segregated group in the United States. Where other groups have begun to date outside of their races, Black women are still highly segregated in these respects.

As such, the prevalence of AIDS is much more concentrated in a community that tends to only date within it's immediate sub-culture.

Does that make sense?

Laymen's terms: It's a vicious cycle. The smaller the pool to choose from, the more likely it is for overlap in partners to occur thus spreading the disease.

That is very different from thinking that somehow Black women are somehow genetically predisposed to getting AIDS.
