Gay statistics?

I am doing something like a debate on 2 issues
1) There is no link between homosexuality and paedophilia
2) HIV infections are not due to homosexuals
I need some STATISITCS to back me up.

If what you are preparing is a debate you need to know the reality surrounding you. People are only moved when they can see that issues happen next door and not thousands of miles away.
Look for number of convictions during the last three years and the sexual orientation and marital status of the offenders, you鈥檒l be surprised. I am sure that you鈥檒l find that sexual topics are put willy-nilly in the same box being the reality quite different.
The same for your second topic. This one a little bit different as you may find people being seropositive ticking in more than one box. Then look at the number and quality of the literature available only to realise that there may be people that even belonging to a high risk group may not be aware of that and certainly these not necessarily being the gay population.

1) Statistics have shown that paedophelia or child molestsation is perpetrated by mainly heterosexuals.
In fact, over 90% of all reported molestations are carried out by heterosexual males.

i dunno the answer for number 2 but i hope the first one is usefull!

2)HIV infections are not only due to homosexuals, surely, but I am sure they are a major factor of the figures. Unfortunately, many gay men are very sexually active with always changing partners, and even more unfortunately, some just don't bother about having safe sex anymore! Especially in recent years gays seem to care less about safe sex.

I am a gay male and together with my partner since about 7 years, we basically have only straight friends, as we do not like the gay scene, and we are 'out' everywhere.

I can't beleive people would even think that about number 1.

i think it's very sad that anyone would need statistics to back up comments like that. In today's world one would hope that these are common sense. Sadly, i know that they aren't. So here are some articles:

Statistics are last refuge of the rogue. They are a complete waste of time, especially in human matters.

It takes only a small amount of common sense for people to see that paedophilia is as common among homosexuals as it is among heterosexuals, and to suggest that paedophilia is more common among homosexuals than heterosexuals is downright reprehensible. Leaving all else aside, all the stats in the world won't convince those who are daft enough believe that homosexuality is synonymous with paedophilia that it just ain't so.

And to suggest that HIV infections are not due to homosexuality is ridiculous - are you really trying to say that the homosexual community can't or doesn't do it's fair share of infection?
