Can you get Hepatitis or HIV from a piercing?

How would you know if you got sick from it? Does infection mean you are sick with something?

if the needle used to pierced wasn't sterile and was used before with someone that was hepatitis or HIV positive, you might get it.

infections of piercing are a normal thing when they were done lately. clean the piercing with a specialized water alcohol mix that is usually sold at the place where you got pierced. clean with that product everyday 3-4 times a day. keep yous hands clean before touching the piercing and make it 'turn' on itself to help the hole to become more able to receive the effect of the cleaning liquid.

as for hepatitis and HIV, go to a physician and get tested (blood test). if its negative, go back in 6 months- a year (incubating period).

Yes you can if a infected person was pierced and then the operator of it failed to clean and sanitize properly. You could have HIV for a year or more before it would show on a test.

The short answer is yes. Your body is being penetrated...if the instrumentation or the tech's hands are sanitary, any infection (Hep, HIV, etc) may be transferred to your blood stream.

Yes, infection is illness. It means you have some bug or another in your system.

hep c ...ya know it might be possible if thay are some one else earrings and thay have hepatitis ..but you know i thought it.. check with your doctor

Yes anything that breaks the skin can be infectious!

it depends if they used a needle that was contaminated. when you get a piercing, the earring/piercing itself is new and never been used on someone else. i don't know where you have your piercing to know if they used a needle, or a regular piercing gun. however it is common if you get a piercing and it becomes infected, which means you are not taking care of it properly, or overly caring for it, or your body is just rejecting the piercing(most common in belly button piercings) you should get it checked out by a doctor

your answer is yes-anyone seeking to get a proceedure done that pierces the body can transmit diseases such as HIV and HBV and HCV.
the needles may be new, but sometimes the instrument is not sanitary.
HIV and HBV once they are in oxygen begin to die. I am not sure how long the blood or bodily fluids with these types of viruses live, however, HCV lives a lot longer than usual-not only that, but even dried HCV blood when reconsituted can become active again once moisture comes into contact.

As always if your worried about possible exposure, seek the advice of your doctor. You will need antibody tests for all three. (at least 2 to 3 months after possible exposure.)

Remember that many of us in the HCV world had liver enzymes that always were well within normal limits. I am talking about the Alt and Ast levels. That is why so many went undiagnosed even though they had symptoms. (not all will show symptoms) however, usually a person feels as though they had the flu in initial infection.

It's always best to test for antibodies for a particular disease even though blood labs show normal activity.

Good luck.

I agree with Stephani 100%. The risks are very high when you get a piercing or a tattoo.

If you are unsure of whether you may have gotten infected with either one of these viruses, visit your physician and have him order a blood test on you. It may bring you peace of mind or at least get you on the road to getting help/treatment if you are positive for either one of them.

It does at times take time for you to get any symptoms of the disease, therefore the need for the doctor and testing . Infection does mean that you may have the virus or are sick with it.

Good luck and hope everything turns out for the best for you.
