Is there any relation between RDW and HIV ??

in the PBF, does an elevated RDW indicate HIV infection ?? is it diagnostic and occuring in all cases, or no specific relation ???

i'm not 100% sure of all your abbreviations, i assume that by RDW you mean red (cell) distribution width. an increased RDW occurs in cases of increased blood production, which can be for many reasons. usually in cases where red cells are being destroyed (for example, by the spleen) or in cases of decreased blood cells (with bleeding out), or with anemia. there is no direct correlation between RDW and infection with HIV.

Don't know what a PBF is, but if you're talking about a blood test, then the RDW just tells you how big the red blood cells are. It's helpful to evaluate anemia, not HIV load or status.
