HIV.AIDS in India?

I had gone through with the annual repots, social resarch reports of NGO"s and they are very contradicting against govt. of india claim that no. of of new HIV infection figure has fell to as low as ten thousand in one year. Where as every Non Govt. Organisation is dismissing this finding and claiming figures of HIV cases will not be less than 8-10 millions in the country.And in cities like mumbai, delhi, chennai, etc. percentage of pepole living with virus is already quite high.They claim this U.P.A. govt is under-estimating the numbers and what all figures they are declaring is just tip of the ice-berg.
What do you think, how many pepole are infected with HIV/AIDS in India ?
If it keep on spreading like this what will be the future of public health in India ?
Do you think it will become a big liability for Indian govt ?

A good question that is relevant and an important question in today鈥檚 world and needs more understanding, especially in INDIA. I am currently working with an NGO to create more awareness and elucidation on the growing impact and the stretch of people getting affected at an alarming rate and you will be surprised really to learn that the Indian government has systems in place but lacks man-power and resources to implement most of the available resources, its for like-minded people like you and I to propel forward the motion to make people get onto the system and scrutinize the affliction before we all cross the point-of-no-return.

Those government reported numbers really don't sound right. With India being somewhat of a developing country, I can't see them having a handle on this disease that is sweeping the "third world". No insult intended. How many? That's got to be pretty tough to guess at. HIV and other diseases affect the poorest and neediest so sure, trying to get medicine and prevention education to all of the poor of India sounds like a monumental job.
