What is our choice for saving our race from HIV infection? Can we afford to go immoral? |
AIDS, till date, remains the sure and silent killer and there is little hope of finding a definite cure in the near future. With the alarming rate of spread of this terminal disease, the entire human civilization today faces the danger of extinction. However, it seems, we are not realizing the immensity of the problem. Use of condoms during sex is not a definite prevention for this terminal disease. In the first place, why has this disease attacked humans? Is it not because of too much permissiveness in our society encouraging indulgence in sex beyond marital limits and unnatural acts of sex? Do we intend to promote this trend using condoms or would it be better to lead a decent life and remain faithful to our life-partners? Should we teach our children to practice wild sex using condoms or should we give them proper moral education for a happy future? Can we afford to forget the teachings of our religions and invite our doom? First of all, to say that there is little hope of finding a cure for AIDS in the future is quite false. To say that the entire human civilization faces the danger of extinction due to AIDS is also false, as some people are immune to the virus, and many people will simply never ever be infected. Trials are now underway for a vaccine that can actually immunize the people that are already infected. To blame a viral infection on a lack of morality in society is to ignore the reality of what is really going on, and how it really started. Some people will tell you that HIV got started when some "lonely" hunter had sex with a chimpanzee. A chimpanzee will tear a man to pieces, so this is patently absurd. These hunters do hunt these primates for food, however, and if they get the blood of the animals into their bloodstreams you get the cross-species infection that resulted in the present AIDS crisis. This is the current SCIENTIFIC model of how the crisis originated. Regardless, the morality of it isn't nearly as important as figuring out how to make it go away permanently. The "silver lining" of the very, very dark cloud of the AIDS crisis is that we have had an explosion in the amount of knowledge about these types of diseases, and it has led to advancements in treatments for it and for other retroviral (RNA viruses vs. DNA viruses) illnesses and cancer. I'll bet you didn't know that the HIV virus "shell" (they take the infectious part of the virus out) is being used to deliver gene therapy treatments that weren't even possible before. If you really want to do something about this then stop worrying about the morality of the situation and put on a lab coat and pick up a tissue culture plate. And if you can't do that, then send a few bucks to a decent AIDS charity, or lab. Jesus healed the sick - he didn't condemn their morals. Only morons get AIDS. The only "victims" I see in the AIDS epidemic are rape victims, babies born with AIDS, and unfortunate folks who have cheating significant others. Everyone else who gets it deserves it. End of story. Fred Phelps? You must remember, not all people consider sex outside of marriage to be immoral. Better to be educated, protected, and well-armed with the correct facts than to press one person's morals on someone else. If your moral code says no sex outside of marriage, that is fine. But there need to be options available for people who don't believe that--which doesn't prevent you from practicing your own moral code at all. good question unfortunately we can't make everyone live a certain way that we would like them to. we can only do what we can to protect ourselves and offer other methods of prevention and treatment for those who choose to take a different path. the world does not always work in the way that wished it would, because everyone had a different opinion of what they want that to be. What is an "unnatural act of sex"??? If you're referring to homosexuality, there are a lot of heterosexuals who do a lot more unnatural things than they do. Just go onto one of the adult dating sites one night, or even on Craigslist "Casual Encounters". reality, 50 percent of all marriages end in divorce, Aids is a natural phenomenon that occurres in any species that is undergoing a population explosion. Nature always finds a way to control overpopulation. Believe it or not, We as a species will only benefit in the long run by this disease. Even if every human in the world would to be infected, it would not mean the end of humanity. There are people with natural immunities to it........Just another case of "survival of the fittest" I know it's not fair, but that's just the way life works, and nobody ever said that life was fair. It is difficult but not impossible. |
