Using condoms is 100% safe to prevent HIV infection?

Using condoms is 100% safe to prevent HIV infection?

nothing is 100% ....it's is the best way to prevent it besides not having sex at all.

hell yes and so is celebacy

No! The only thing that's 100% safe is NOT having sex.

No form of protection is 100% other than abstanince.

Know your partner before having sex and don't have sex with tons of people you probally wont get HIV.

You can always ask the person when were the last time they were tested.

They're very effective but not necessarily 100%.

Latex condoms, when used consistently and correctly, are highly effective in preventing heterosexual sexual transmission of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Research on the effectiveness of latex condoms in preventing heterosexual transmission is both comprehensive and conclusive.

No! It's still possible to get HIV if you use a comdon! So.. if your gunna have sex with someone with HIV, don't even if you use protection. haha

no.

even if you don't have sex you'll get hiv anyway by using infected syringe. it's not all sex you know.

so why bother using a condom? using one is like not really having sex at all...

There's no such thing as an absolute in disease prevention, but condoms are the best protection other than abstinence - which we all know the world isn't going to do!

* Keep in mind that STDs can still be spread, even if you use a condom, because a condom does not cover surrounding skin areas. But a condom definitely reduces your risk.
According to a 2000 report by the National Institutes of Health, correct and consistent use of latex condoms reduces the risk of HIV/AIDS transmission by approximately 85% relative to risk when unprotected.

Only if you and your partner are negative for HIV. :P

Stuff happens, condoms break or slip off sometimes. They aren't 100% effective at preventing pregnancy so they aren't 100% effective at preventing HIV either.

However, they are by far the best way to reduce your risk if you are sexually active. If you are in a monogomous relationship, it's best to get both you and your partner tested. That way you'll know what kind of chances you are taking.

Not 100%, but do use them as they are the best method of protection for a sexually active person.

no

Not 100% safe. There are many other ways in which you will get infested during the sex.

no

Using condoms correctly makes them 99 percent effective.

abstain is the only 100% gaurentee for prevention,

till today the next most effective method is use condom,

i had not seen anybody getting virus who use protection everytime,

and last but not the least don"t go much into these percentages, theses all are wrong and genralized.

No..it can not..
Safe sex using condoms depend on various factors like the quality of the condoms and other behaviours during the sexual intercourse.
It is always better to make sure that the condoms are within date and a correct size has been used. Condoms may tear or slips if the proper size is not used which may risk contracting HIV in a given time. Outdated and low quality condoms may tear during the activity.
Condoms to be used throughout the sexual activities as some may think that it should only be used just prior ejaculation. This is a knowledge gap. Using condoms after having engaged in oral or anal sex will not eliminate the risk of contracting the HIV. Hence, avoiding these kind of high risk behaviours are very important in this matter.
Hope, this helps.
