Does vulnerability to HIV infection lead to one being susceptible to it or is it vice versa?

Does vulnerability to HIV infection lead to one being susceptible to it or is it vice versa?

You have to be vulnerable first before you can be susceptible.

vulnerability and susceptability are the same thing basically.

now whats the question??

you are right the first time.

They are the same thing. A better way to describe it is to refer to the risk of infection. All humans are susceptible or vulnerable to HIV, hence the name. However, it is what behaviors one engages in that put one at risk for being infected -- unprotected sex, multiple sex partners, having sex with people whose HIV status you do not know, sharing needles to shoot drugs, coming in contact with blood, etc.

I am not sure what you mean by being vulnerable or susceptible.
It is very straightforward. HIV can be obtained through another infected bodily fluids including semen and blood. You are not susceptible to it or vulnerable to it unless you are tested as HIV positive.

If you are concerned about it, there are all kinds of precautions one can take. If you are sexually active, I suggest you to to a GYN doctor or family practice doctor and be very honest about your concerns. Don't be shy to ask. Otherwise, find a Family Planning Center who does exams and education.

If you are in the health care profession, you need to be trained in universal precautions.

The key: education and prevention.

there is nothing called vulnerability to hiv for this person.all people are at risk if they have unprotected sexual intercourse with hiv+ person or with contaminated needles.
it doesnt depend on the person...it depend on his actions
