HIV: does every contact with the hiv virus result in an hiv infection?

What I always wanted to know:
does any (first) contact with an hiv virus result in an infection? Just to put this straight: This is not an issue about sexuality but more on biology. I'm not asking this to argue "well than you don't need any protection".

I put it more graphically just for the purpose of better understanding: suppose you inject yourself the hiv virus,
will it (under all circumstances) infect my body?
(Or think bigger: inject the virus in a couple of million people, will each and every one of them develeop the hiv virus?)

Is there the possibility that the immune system identifies
the virus as foreign and destroys it?
Are the other conditions which could (not necessarily have to, but could) stop the virus?

Thanks for your ideas!

Hi Dr Ab,
well I totally accept that one single virus can infect me; the question I'm after is: is there a 100% probability that it will :)

Thanks for your help!

first, AIDS is the cumulnation of the HIV virus in the body so I must correct the "doctor". HIV is a rather hard virus to become infected with. To gain more knowledge on this subject I recommend AIDSmeds.com or thebody.com

HIV can only be transmitted through blood, saliva, semen, or vaginal fluid. You may check the HIV community: http://www.positivesingles.com... Report It

Yes, even one Virus can infect you.

But u might not get AIDS. which is different from HIV
