Questions about donating bone marrow?

Hey guys,
I have a couple of questions about becoming a bone marrow donor & becoming part of the national/international registries.

I know a person can't donate blood if they are on psychiatric medications, admit to being homosexual (they can donate but the blood is disposed of because of HIV concerns), or if they are anemic/borderline anemic. I'm gay, I'm borderline anemic due to being a vegetarian, and I take psychiatric meds for depression/anxiety. Does this mean I wouldnt be able to donate bone marrow, or are these variables only relevant in donating blood? If anyone has any links with this information, please share them.

I know I can't donate blood. I'm just interested in learning more about interesting bone marrow and if the qualifications are the same.

Under the guidelines for the US registry it says if you have significant risk for HIV you may not be able to donate "for a period of time"

My best suggestion is to call the registry for the country you are in and ask them about it.

If/when you are ever called to donate, or if this is for a specific person, make sure you are FULLY accurate about your medical history.

you must have yourself re-screened in the laboratory for the presence of HIV infection and/or your Hemoglobin/Hematocrit level (for anemia correlation). The admission that you are homosexual would not automatically disqualify you unless you do homosexual activities (i mean having sex with the same gender).
