Is this a white lie?

Ok, I went donating my blood last Monday. They asked me tons of questions before they let me give my blood away. I told them 2 false answers. One, I said no when they asked me whether I have had sex with men, that because i could carry HIV / AIDS which I am sure I dont. I always do it safe, beside I just had medical exam last month and the result was all good. I thought that they were just being stupid asking whether I have had sex with man, and also asking whether I have had sex with women with HIV positive, I mean for God's sake, that's not fair.
Second, they asked me whether I have been out of the country and get exposed to Malaria, I said yes I use to live in one coutry and there was no such thing as Malaria. They make told me if I lived just in the cities of this specific Island than i should be fine, I mean come on, the Islan I use to to live was packed and there was no borders between cities and rurals. I know 180% there has never been Malaria in that place.

So sorry, there are two lies actually.
I really wanted to donate my blood becasue my sister died on accident and she was requiring lots of blood.
They always test the blood before they give it for transfusion, anyway. So, I lied because I thought they were being non-sense.

the questions are in fact rather biased in that HIV is now as much a heterosexual infection as a homosexual one. In fact if they want to elimiate the risk they need to refuse anyone who has had any form of penetration sex with someone they are not married to.

I used to lie on the application because I have a rare blood type, and I considered it a civic duty and had been giving blood since HS. I can't give any more because I had infectious hepatitis, so it's no longer relevant.

Do I classify your responses as white lies? Yes. But I understand why you're doing it.

You out-and-out lied. They ask these questions for a reason. Do you think you know more than the doctors? Tell the blood donation center you lied.

Next time, volunteer your time educating people about accident prevention in honor of your sister.
