Is this TRUE?? Nearly 50 percent of Gay/Bisexual men are HIV +?

I was watching this YOUTUBE clip and it really had me thinking it is only (41 seconds) long.

QUESTION FOR YOU:

1. Do you believe these statistics are true?

2. If the statistics are true, what should be our plan of action
to deal with this?

3. I know many of you will say it is about morals and values and people should keep there pants up.
That is a "cute" argument, however, in reality our young teenagers and mid 20 brothers and sisters will have "experimental sex." What do you do to help curve the risk.

My suggestion would be to create a data base for hiv positive people and make it available to non-hiv people so that they are able to check before engaging in sex.

That statistic is absolutely not true.

The database idea would unfairly compromise the privacy of all of the HIV+ people who are monogamous or dealing with it or at any rate not trying to sleep with you (or some other unsuspecting soul out there).

Abstinence only education has not worked -- it has only been another repository for all the money GWB thinks the U.S. has to throw around paying for all the crap he comes up with.

Not educating teens about birth control and especially the use of condoms is stupid and has made the rate of STDs triple in the last ten years -- probably because of the abstinence only education.

So...lots of problems and no answers. I actually think education -- in the community somehow -- not at school -- a lot to ask of parents and kids to talk about -- for alternate activities (e.g. mutual masturbation) that are safe should be more available. Honestly partners of any orientation can do the hand thing until they are sore and develop carpal tunnel sydrome without risk of STD and it is not as cool as ``real`` sex but it is safe and it can lead to climax.

Weird and out there and maybe too much info but that is my story and I am sticking to it. However I have a 15 year old and 12 year old and I doubt their father or I will ever talk to them about the above -- condoms: yes. Mutual mas: no. So there should be some commonly known website with the info that parents who are against it can block but is not difficult to access that has factual information about it.

Providing information will not give kids additional ideas. Most kids are clever enough to come up with the ideas on their own.

1. no. i think it is a lower precent, but who knows in todays society when one out of four teen have std's.
2. if they are true, all we can do is talk about it in health classes and school or put commercials on popular sites like myspace, facebook all those.
3. i think nothing has the power to stop them, only they are strong enough to make the right choice.
4. that's actually a really good idea. as for me, im not that creative, so ya. but really good idea.

YES 70% got it bc they are gay or BI.. or they like to sleep with men but claim their heterosexual.. & drug users..thats it..

women got HIV from nasty men who claim their straight when they are gay or bi.. that's it.. no wonder some women r lesbians.. less worries of dealin with nasty men who like to put their penis in anything with a hole.. cup, glass, pies..wuteva there is!

The latest CDC figures I have read for men who have sex with men (MSM), is that about 5% of the population is HIV positive. This compares to about 1% of the general US population. SO it is much higher, but nothing like 50%.
