I'm thinking about getting circumcised, but I need people who have had adult circumcision to give me advice?

Please, this is not a should I or should I not question - that has already been dabated elsewhere. opponents of circumcision say to let the child decide, well, I'm at that stage now, and yes, I'm informed of the pros vs cons. I know its really for cosmetic reasons, and never ultimately about hygiene or STDs - If a circumcised male defends himself by saying it lowers his risk of STDs, I dare him and an intact male to F an HIV positive woman and he'll realize that the the risk is so high, any more risk is negliable.

still, I live in the USA, I'm an American, and currently, the culture here is pro circumcision. people say 50% of boys nowadays are not getting it done. good. maybe then I wont have to cut my son, but for now, I need advice on the procedure:

1. how is it done?
2. did the doc numb you with a needle, and where, the shaft or the head?
3. after being numbed, did it still hurt like a mofo?

googled some images and videos of the procedure...I think I'll just pull my foreskin back instead. *shudders*

You will be numbed during the procedure but usually not knocked out. The needles apparently hurt like fury though. Afterwards there is a lot of discomfort for a month at least.
Adult males lose 15 square inches (40 square centimetres) of skin in circumcision, over half the skin of your penis. You lose the gliding action as it slides on itself during masturbation and sex. You will suffer bruising, perhaps some bleeding, and the swelling from the disruption to the lymph system goes on for up to six months. Removing the foreskin turns the surface of the glans from an inner mucosal membrane to outside skin. Newly circumcised adults usually go through some weeks of intense discomfort as the glans is constantly exposed to rubbing on clothing, until it develops a thicker keratin layer and becomes less sensitive. You must abstain from ALL sexual activity for an average of six weeks. Some men like the final result but others complain of loss of sensation and miss being able to slide their foreskin over the glans. Circumcised guys often have little or no movable skin left and are forced to masturbate using lube or rubbing dry, without the loose skin. There is no going back if you don鈥檛 like the result.
A recent study has shown real differences in fine touch sensitivity between circumcised and intact penises and that the most sensitive parts of the intact penis are those that would be removed by circumcision.

OK so I haven't had it done obviously but I wouldn't recommend it just for cosmetic reasons...guys are posting here saying they regret it because they lose sensitivity. Most girls don't mind, even in the USA.

Good luck!

1. You are awake throughout the procedure. Your foreskin is simply cut off with a sanitised blade.
2. There are two needles. The shaft AND the head.
3. Very painful, but I couldn't scream. It hurt way worse like a mofo, ******* hurted like shet.

my 23 year old bf had it done a couple months ago and he did it for cosmetic he was the one with the problem not me. but he says they numbed him with a needle and your awake(otherwise more expensive lol) and they started from like the middle and went up, injecting numbing medicine. then they just started cutting and he was like holy hell lol but! he said it was only like an hour and it was really easy. its the after part that will drive you crazy. you have to keep it bandaged for six weeks and skip all stressful activies, i recomend taking vitamins to heal faster like my bf did. no sex for six weeks. dont be alarmed if you see little white bumps on the cut because its just oil buildup. you will get swollen on your head and even if you feel up to sex the girl wont want to cuz your so big lol GOOD LUCK!

I'm not a male, but a nursing student, and I can tell you that it HURTS afterward ALOT. Especially when you pee. Also, what you might want to take into consideration, is the fact that when a male is circumcised, he loses about 30% of sexual pleasure. The foreskin has LOTS of nerve endings that will be lost, therefore decreasing the amount of sexual pleasure he will feel as opposed to a male who is uncircumcised. Almost makes me regret getting my boys done.

I was circumcised when I was adult, and I have no regrets. I feel most qualified to answer this question because I have been there and done that. Moreover, some of the answers given before me are simply less than accurate. You mentioned that your getting circumcised for cosmetic reasons, but I feel after wards you will agree that the hygiene and overall health is more superior.

1. There are many different methods of circumcision, but ultimately the results are the same.

2. More than likely you will be put to sleep under general anesthesia. In which case you will not feel or see anything. After the procedure you will get bandaged up and sent to a recovery room where you will eventually wake up and leave.

3. Like any surgery there will be pain while you heal in the recovery stages. Most of the pain associated with getting circumcised will occur in the first three to four days and in some cases the first week after being circumcised. There will still be pain after wards due to erections, but not nearly is substantial. In most cases, complete recovery will take 2-3 weeks, make sure your stitches have been removed or dissolved, and your incision is completely healed before you engage in sexual intercourse or masturbation.

Some will try to scare you saying that you will lose most of your sensitivity, this is couldn't be more wrong. I have actually experienced more sensitivity during sex after being circumcised than I ever had while I was uncircumcised. Before getting circumcised, sex consisited of me sliding in and out of my own forskin rather than direct stimulation of my partners vagina. In addition, I often had to hold my forskin back during sex to achieve maximum sensation. Nevertheless, disregard anti circumcision negativity.

If you have any other questions just email me.

there are a variety of different methods depending on the doctor, they will give you something for the pain, make sure you fully understand the parts of the penis such as the frenulum, inner, outer foreskin as you can decide what and how much you want to keep

I went the other way:

I restored my foreskin by stretching, the pleasure increases have been great, it's like it was naturally

meant to be there, it was well worth the effort

If I were you I'd listen to Obama over there. I just got circumcised a week ago. I was knocked out entirely and felt absolutely nothing. Afterwords they give u painkillers but you barely have to use them because it isn't necessarily pain just a mild discomfort. A week for me and I'm loving the way it's looking. Don't let people who haven't had it done or ESPECIALLY women put you off. They don't know what it's like having a penis...well most of them at least.
