What is the probabilty of a person getting HIV?

What is the probability, or how high is the possibility of a, lets say male, being infected with HIV after having intercourse several times
(5-10) with an HIV positive female partner (same one)?

I forgot to add unprotected sex

You have a one in a thousand chance of contracting it from an HIV infected person. BUT the more times you are exposed to the virus, the higher risk you have of contracting the virus.

I have to add...the 1 in 1,000 is from vaginal sex...not anal. Anal sex has a higher risk due to easy puncture of the mucus membrane.

Based on the studies, vaginal sex carries a risk of 1 to 1000 for a single episode. Anal sex carries a risk of 1 to 100 for a single eposide. BUT HIV is not a game of probabilities. Means that even the probability of vaginal sex is very low, it does not mean you cannot get it the first time. It is low but it is not zero.

The numbers that I mentioned are for single episode. The risk increases if you have more than one eposide. Again, HIV is not a game of probabilities. You have to protect yourself if you do not know the status of your partner.

If you were exposed, you should talk to your doctor immediately and take proper actions.

There are a lot of factors that need to be looked at. Her viral load, if she is on medications and the viral load is low or undetectable, your risk is lower. If you have or had an STD your risk is much higher. Add to this the number of times you had unprotected sex. Way to many factors to look at.

You can model this with formulas but bottom line is that if it was unprotected sex, the probability is high enough for this person to get tested, as living with the disease undiagnosed has grave consequences..
