What is the difference between aids and Hiv positive?

HIV is the virus that can lead to AIDS. HIV destroys the cells that help us fight infections, and when that cell count drops to 200 or below, diagnosis changes from HIV+ to AIDS. At that point, any infection, such as flu, pneumonia, or even a bad cold, could be deadly.

HIV is the Human Immunodeficiency Virus, which means you have the virus and can pass it on. AIDS is Acqured Immune Deficiency Syndrome which is not a single disease but a spectrum of diseases caused by having reduced immunity due to HIV.

AIDS - Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome - is the disease. HIV - Human Immunodeficiency Virus - is the cause.

HIV = the virus is present in your body

AIDS = the virus has destroyed your immune system to the point where you body is no longer able to fight off infections
