Relative with HIV bled on my towel...?

I had a relative staying with us who left yesterday. In gathering the laundry he used while with us I noticed some blood on the towel he had been using. He is HIV positive. I do not know that much about HIV and do not want my husband to see numerous searches on it all kinds since it is his family member. Anyways, I have to small kids in the house so I'm a little paranoid. How long does HIV live outside the body? Are there any precautions I should be taking right now? Thanks so much for your help & advice!!
-one scared mama

HIV does not survive outside of its host for very long at all. It takes direct exchange of bodily fluids to transmit the disease (such as getting blood in an open cut, or as with sexual transmission or blood transfusion). Wash the towel, it's fine.
Just make sure no contact of bodily fluids is occurring and everyone should be fine. So if he cuts himself use gloves when treating the wound, and don't share razors and things like that.

Hiv can't live long outside of the body.
I think the time span is only 3 to 4 seconds.
Your best bet is to wash the laundry wit h some bleach, as long as you don't spoil any colors you wil be fine.
Bleach kills alot of nasty germs out there that are hanging out all over the place. A 2 to 1mix of hot water & bleach used on any surface will work.

U could wash the towel!

But personally, I wouldn't take any chances & just get rid of the TOWEL!

OMG, i totallly understand....u could wash the towel b/c there's nothing worng with it....but if it was me, I'd throw it away...

I kinda had almost the same scare: One of my cuzns was visiting and is HIV+....I didnt want him 2 drink from our cups, sit on our toilet, r sleep in no bed in our house!!!! I thought I could get it from him through one of those ways, but I didnt say n-e thing cuz I didnt wanna b rude...I just waited til he left and was tellin my mama 2 throw stuff away and disinfect everything....then she had 2 sit dwn and tell me the "rules" of HIV.....

"Rules of HIV"
HIV is airborn... once it hits the air, it's dead...the only way you could get it is if you made blood to blood contact with them

Clear all searches that pretain to the subject- if you can't r dont know how 2 do it, just talk 2 him and explain ur conerns....I mean after all, he is ur husband, so he should understand the reasons behind ur searches and questionings....
