Serious HIV question... If a woman get pregnant by a HIV positive man...? |
Doesn't that mean she has HIV and so does the baby???? My cousin had a baby by a man who is positive. She tells the family and everyone that she knows that she and the baby are negative. I have a hard time believing this. She sleeps with a lot of different men, and they do not know the history. I am worried. For the men, and for her. If she has it and knows she does,isn't that murder??? Thank you sooooo much for your knowledge!!!! Yes she can still be negative. People don't get infected every time they have sex with someone who is HIV+. If his viral load was low or undetectable that could be why she was safe. I'm sure the baby was monitored during the pregnancy and tested upon birth. Is the father HIV positive or does he have full blown aids? Theres a difference. You should read up on this. Someone could be HIV + and never get aids, just a carrier. The baby may or not be, wont know until its blood is tested when hes born. How does the mother know shes not a carrier. She may have gotten a test, but HIV/Aids could take years before it shows up on a test. It is possible that they are both still HIV negative. My best advice to her would be to get tested and make sure. Then if she is still negative to just practice safe sex, and communicate with partners about std's. If she is positive, and doesn't tell a partner, yes it is a crime. It is possible they wouldnt have it, but I would say the chances are slim. Did he have it before sex? Maybe he got it after? The baby most importantly should be tested!! If I were you I would contact someone at your local health department and find out what to do next!! If that baby has it he/she needs to get on meds ASAP! It's possible she's not infected or that she didn't test positive if she was tested early and not again later. That doesn't mean she will stay that way and should be retested. That is so not right, people who have diseases that have no cure yet are just sick and heartless. Wjat kind of person knowingly goes around spreading HIV for gods sake geez |
