I've recently fallen for a guy that is HIV positive?

We've not had relations, but our chemistry is so intense when we are together, I don't know what to do! Besides condoms how else can I protect myself? I care a great deal about this man!

Unfortunately at the present time it looks like the best way to protect yourself is with a male or female condom if you are contemplating sexual intercourse. There are non-penetrating types of sex that you can use as a substitute though you may not want to consider them as an alternative. There is research being done concerning the use of microbicides, but they don't expect them to be available for another year or two. I would suggest that you speak to your physician if you are really serious about this man.

Below is a website about safe sex and another about the microbicides.

Condoms are the best way. As long as he is on viral medication and his viral load is low and you use condoms then you should be fine. You can still build a life together, you can still have children and you can still have a future. I am HIV+ and I just had a beautiful baby boy who is negative. My husband is still negative and we are planning on adopting more children in the next few years.

You need to let him go. There is a website for positive singles that HIV + people use. This + trait tells you that he either shared dirty needles, had risky sex with a male or female, or maybe contracted it via blood transfusion *which is rare and nowadays unheard of, virtually*.

let him find someone of the same "status" as he is. Don't risk it.

We all can't help who we fall in love with. With this kind of relationship you really need to be using condoms in all sexual activities, or abstain from sex. I would suggest talking to your doctor or his doctor about the risks!

Forget about him as you will be exposed to the Virus eventually and the risks will be expanded to your children, if any. Sorry about this sad situation!

I say love is love, if you guys click then go for it. Obviously avoid any huge sexual contact, but sadly condoms are the only way if you plan to go that far. Good Luck ^_^
