Gay Relationship-- Poz Top and Neg Bottom. Can it work?

My boyfriend and I have had a non-monogamous relationship for the past year plus-- I was the top, and he was the bottom. I tested positive for HIV a few months back, and our sex has changed considerably-- we no longer feel comfortable with me ******* him, even with a condom. Are we overly afraid? I can't find online information with any kind of info for poz tops/neg bottoms. If you have a link to any info, please share.

stop having sex! this is what got you into this situation in the first place! Im sorry to hear about your scenario.. id be more worried about nutrition's and my health over weather my partner is going to ram it up my culo

Top, bottom...are talking about sexual positions? If so, the virus has no concept of gravity and doesn't care. He is at risk of infection from you.

A condom will add a fairly large measure of safety if you use them each and every time and properly, for fellatio as well as penetrative sex. They are not fool proof but are pretty good - some risk still has to be assumed.

First- he needs to get tested- then again in six months. If he's positive too, then condoms are unnecessary; the health and emotional fallout I leave to you two.

As far as his feelings about being comfortable with you now, can you blame him? You went outside your relationship (allowed to or not, the virus doesn't care) and you brought the virus into your relationship, threatening his health and his life. I'd be P.O.'d too!

Now, you can get some general HIV info at the first link. The second link was made for you and is an excellent resource for HIV info.

Hey there! Maybe this will help?

"In general, the person receiving the semen is at greater risk of getting HIV because the lining of the rectum is thin and may allow the virus to enter the body during anal sex. However, a person who inserts his penis into an infected partner also is at risk because HIV can enter through the urethra (the opening at the tip of the penis) or through small cuts, abrasions, or open sores on the penis."

"Vaginal and anal intercourse: For the receptive partner (the "bottom"), the mucous membranes of the anus and vagina are very efficient routes into the bloodstream. HIV may also enter either through routine, minute tearing caused during intercourse (which is often unnoticed).

Anal sex is riskier than vaginal sex, because the membranes are thinner, tearing happens more easily, and there is no natural lubrication. But both are efficient routes for the virus."

it really does not matter if it's top or bottom, hiv can still be passed it is in the semen and since anal sex is one of the easiest ways to contract hiv; because of the increased risk in tearing of the skin and the virus entering the blood system. the only thing i can recommend is if you to are going to have sex please always use a condom.

sorry im not gay like that...sorry about the whole hiv thing
