HIV and what society tells us about it, and we need to know more.?

We are learning about Immune defenses in my biology class and this just happen to cross my mind. So we know by now that HIV can be transmitted through blood, and other bodily fluids such as semen, vaginal secretions, breast milk, having unprotected sex and sharing needles with someone who is infected. But how did that person get infected? The obvious answer would be "from someone else who was infected" Yea, but then how did that person get infected? It obvioulsy starts somewhere and if it can only be passed on and not created then what about in this scenario.
Scenario: Two people who are both virgins and HIV negative decide to have sex with each other without using a condom. Then one of them decides to have sex with someone else who is a virgin and HIV negative without using a condom. And then that person goes on to having multiple partners without using a condom and is only having sex with people who are virgins and HIV negative. Can that person become HIV positive? I would think not because they only had sex with virgins who are not HIV positive. And it can only be passed on. I dont think there is enough education on this disease, thats why our youth are being so promiscuous because they dont really have all the knowledge. All they are taught is "if you have sex without a condom you will get an STD" and dont really understand because they trust thei partners and think they are safe and it cant happen to them.

What do you guys think? Feel free to respond and give your opinion.

Just because a person chooses to have sex with virgins only, doesn't exempt them from HIV. You said it yourself, HIV can infect anyone who comes in contact with bodily fluids from an HIV + person. What if the virgin had to have a blood transfusion and the blood was contaminated with HIV? They will get it. People can become infected with HIV without having sex virgin or not. There are a lot of ways to get it. For example, before they have the full face covering in the OR, they only used face mask that covered the mouth and nose. One OR nurse was assisting a Dr during surgery with a patient who was HIV +. When the Dr made the initial cut, blood squirted out and a drop went into the nurses eye. It wasn't long before she too became HIV +. She died 1 yr after this happened and this is a true story. That's why they started using the full plastic face coverings. So virgin or not, people can still contract HIV.

We talked about the origin of AIDS in Health Class today and read an article about it. According to the article in a medical journal: "From 150 to 50 years ago: HIV most likely started out as a virus of monkeys and chimpanzees in Africa. People were infected, probably through scratches or cuts. The infection lurked in isolated villages for a time and then spread as Africans moved to cities"

You can't get HIV from someone who doesn't have HIV. However, most people who have HIV have no symptoms for several years, so you can't tell if someone has HIV just by looking at them.

I agree with your statement that there is not enough education about HIV. I do HIV education and testing, and every day, I see the importance of giving people accurate info about HIV transmission. Although many clients I see do have a lot of accurate knowledge about HIV, many clients come in with a lot of questions, concerns, and misconceptions. Some people believe that if they are not gay and do not share needles for drug use, they are not at risk. Other people believe that HIV can be transmitted by saliva or by casual contact. Some people come to our office with no intention of getting tested, but when they get accurate info about risk factors, they decide to get tested.

Fear prevents many people from being tested. Also, many people think that if they don't have any symptoms, they are clean, and have no reason to be tested. Many people also believe "It can't happen to me,", as you said. Many people pass the virus on to other people before they know that they themselves are infected. Someone who is infected could actually pass the virus on to others the very same day, long before they would show symptoms, and before they would test positive. Scary, but true.
