When do you tell your partner you are HIV positive? |
A good friend of mine told me a few months ago that he was HIV positive, I was touched that he choose to share this with me as I know it must be so hard for him. However, he has recently started seeing a guy and he really likes him, however, he has not told him that he is HIV. He said that they have always used a condom when having sex, but I just keep thinking if I was in that situation and I was sleeping with someone that knew they were infected I would want them to tell me BEFORE we ever got close to having sex. I'm not exactly outraged, but it feels wrong. There could be an accident and the other guy could get it, and imagine how betrayed he'd feel! Immediately, This is a very infectious disease. If you have HIV passed down from your other partner, it can keep spreading. Like a domino effect. Besides being selfish, if you have sex and know without telling your partner you can be held criminally liable. When you get locked you will get no sympathy and be in solitary confinement. This is one of the possibilities. People need to think before they act on these types of matters. Your friend has no right to do this to that guy. Condoms aren't foolproof, as someone else has said if something happens he is basically committing murder. If you know these 2 guys tell them immediately that his partner is HIV positive. Yeah I agree with you I would want someone with HIV to tell me that they were positive. Its considered murder if you have sex with some one and your HIV positive and not tell them. The mere wording of the question... One's partner should be told about HIV status well before they ARE one's partner. The time to disclose would be BEFORE intercourse. I was upset when I first read this. Any one that has HIV/ or aids should tell any one that they may in gage in sex with. If not it is like pointing a gun at someone and shooting but missing them, but sooner or later one of them bullets will hit them. Condoms do not protect any one from STD's. Ever hear of a girl getting pregnant and he used a condom? Yes. Same with STD's. If you truely love some one you never endanger their lives in any way. If he is not telling him cause he does not want to be on his own, this sounds like a huge case of greediness. In some states it is illegal if you have aids and pass it to others without telling them ahead of time. Attempted murder! I may sound cold but I do not feel sorry for any one with aids that got it from a one night stand and the person thought I will have sex without protection or with any one I do not know well. The ones that think it will not happen to me attitude. That's so selfish. So what if your friend used a condom? The disease could still be contracted through a number of ways. I'd tell your friend to let the guy know immediately. I would tell my partner before we did anything physical or even maybe at the beginning of the relationship. |
