Are black people any more or less "phobic" about HIV than white people?

I have a white gay male friend who is HIV positive and he will only date black guys.

He's dated a guy who was black and hiv negative before and now he's dating a black guy who is also HIV positive.
In a moment of sudden honesty, he confided to me that he won't generally look at white guys because he feels that they judge his health status too harshly.

Is this true from your perspective?

Are black people more likely to be understanding or comfortable around people who are HIV positive?

Respectfully, I'm not judging anyone here... I was just wondering if other people felt the same way my friend does...

Let me quote you-

"After you've met enough people from all different cultures and backgrounds, you begin to understand that there's really no way to categorize people"

Please! Have you not noticed the DRAMATIC upswing of HIV in the African American community? This comes from the rampant homophobia in many black churches that then creates a stigma around being gay and thus potentially having HIV. It cracks me up when I speak to a black guy to refuses to say he's gay, but instead "same gender loving." Lame.

So yes, I believe that there is actually more stigma against people who are living with HIV in the African American community than in the mainstream white gay community. We've been dealing with it for a long time and (unfortunately) many people don't see it as a big deal any more.

If the African American community does not soon address the homophobia within its churches and community, more and more black men will continue to be on the DL and bring diseases home to their women.

Hmmm, how ignorant! How are you going to group an entire group of people by a couple of people??????????? I'm a black female and although friendship wise, I wouldnt judge someone if they were HIV positive, but if they wanted to be more then friends, it would be NO.....

i think everyone is slightly apprehensive of HIV+ people. (subconsiously or otherwise)
personally it doesnt matter as long as they're not a sexual partner of mine.

No they are not phobic. Because the majority who have HIV and AIDS are black. Its just a fact. They spend too much time walking on the wild side of life like a maniac.

Wow...he will only date black men? Damn that sounds pretty racist!!

what?
that doesnt even make sense
you cant just simply catigorize people that way.
