What is the link between the empowerment of women and the prevention of the spread of HIV and AIDS ?

How empowering the girlchild reduces the rate of spread of the disease, and how does that co-relate to men. List all positives and negatives of doing so. Include references.

Check out the WHO website. They have lots of information on the empowerment of women and reducing the spread of HIV/AIDS.

By giving women the power to choose their sexual partners and giving them knowledge of the transfer of the disease, you can reduce the rates of transmission. It is a very challenging topic because there are a lot of cultural and traditional values that prevent women from being sexual creatures. Therefore reducing the liklihood that they would ask a partner to wear a condom. In many societies women are not supposed to know about sex, so they should not have knowledge of condoms to ask a partner to wear one. By making these things common knowledge to both sexes you can greatly increase the power of women in these matters.

There are very few negatives of teaching people how to prevent the transmission of HIV, however the only negatives I can see is the negative backlash from the society and them not wanting their girls to know about these things before marriage.

Education brings empowerment to women and men. It is a solution to a lot of problems. Education brings choices. Choices lead to better lives. Most people are happy when they have control and can make choices for their own life. Education gives people the knowledge to make informed decisions.

the way i prevent having aids or hiv is not being with anyone unless you know them real well and practice safe sex....or have no sex at all.....i think these days it is stupid of anyone to go out and have sex with someone you do not know....i think it is better to do without than chance being with someone and getting a disease...

HIV is in the main spread between couples who have unprotected sex. Perhaps look up info about HIV rates in Africa, where women traditionally have less power and HIV and AIDS is at epidemic levels.

But that's all I'm saying I'm not doing your homework/dissertation for you!
