Discuss the causes and effects of HIV/AIDS on the Zambian economy?

The positive and negative impacts of the pandemic.

Positive? There are few....maybe research? New drugs to combat it? Not much...

Negative? Well the obvious is that people are dying. They must spend most of their money on health care. Because the person with AIDS oftentimes cannot work, their family must spend their money instead....so whole families are drained. Time and effort are spent taking care of the sick as well, so efficiency is basically gone. Because people don't expect to live very long, they don't invest in the future, and this is an economical disaster. That means the cycle of poverty continues on and on (Productivity, Investments, Savings, Income).
